Cabron in Reflection
Permalink

Cabron followed Louis into his office as he led the way to the bar, and behind it, to the door which opened into the corridor where his office was.  His fingers had been laced with Kierstian's the entire time.  He could not help but tremble as he recalled how he had hardened inside of Kierstian again when confronted first by Ruslan, and then by the boss while still buried inside of her.  He was sure he had to be some kind of perv to get turned on by an audience, and glancing at Kierstian, he wondered if she had noticed.  A weak smile etched his lips as her blue eyes met his gaze, his eyes so dark they looked black unless revealed in bright light.  When they arrived in Louis office and were asked to take a seat on the couch there, he nestled himself close beside her with one arm coiling around her waist.  He listened to everything Louis had to say, and it became apparant that he had overheard everything Ruslan had said to them.  The man seemed to be very well informed, and he regarded him with as much curiosity as amazement and suspicion as he spoke.  Cabron was unable to conceal his subtle scowl of resentment as Louis raised the subject of, and recounted the hazards of raising hybrids, but the resentment quickly faded as he realized his boss was only being honest, and trying to help.  His arms tightened around Kierstian now and again, pulling her even closer as they listened to the wordly fellow's advise, and warnings.  Cabron forced himself to let down his defenses and truly take what Louis said to heart.  The fact that hybrids could not be concealed until they learned gifts to veil themselves from human eyes, the dangers of a hybrid resenting having to hide themselves their entire lives, and the importance of teaching such children the consequences of rebeling against remaining elusive their entire lives.  He spoke also of those who hunted hybrids down to reduce the chance of that happening, and how important it was to conceal hybrids from other immortals, or ancients as well.  Cabron had eyed Louis intently at the mention of immortals.  Were some lycanthrope immortal?  He had no idea that immortals existed.  Louis also spoke of watching out for those who preyed on naivity, ignorance and innocence to incorperate others into their own plans.  His boss mentioned those who might induct them into a pack that might not suit them, or of others who might even enslave lycanthrope to use as day light guardians.  This confused Cabron, and by the puzzled look he fixed on Louis, the vampire would know Cabron was unaware that vampires existed, or that some of them kept lycanthrope as slaves, even despite the act being forbidden by most vampire clans.  When Louis asked what rock they had hidden themselves beneath, Cabron bowed his head to lower his eyes in deep reflection a moment before he answered.  "West Virginia, USA is the rock we grew up under," he stated quietly, as though that should explain everything.  It was odd...He had never seen a Hybrid in his entire life, not until he and Kierstian had the twins.  That did not mean they were not there though, did it?  Since coming to London, he and Kierstian had discovered a great many things they had never known, and many options had surfaced they had not expected.  His gaze then lifted to lock on Louis.  "How do you know all these things?  You are not a beastkin...So how do you know all of this?"  It was a question he had wanted to ask from the moment Louis started talking.

Kierstian had merely let herself be led along, gazing at Cabron as she would, only occasionally peering at Louis. She felt safe in her love's arms and had, at one point, wondered many of the same things that Cabron had. Flushed and rather embarassed, she cuddled closer to her love and sighed heavily-Why must it be so? No one ever mentioned such things to me about hybrids? Why must it be that when I find someone I love and finally claim him a mate.....the whole world would frown upon it?-She sighed heavily, as though the weight of the world rested upon her shoulders. Her fingers splayed over her belly as she thought on the words of Ruslan who had commented that Cabron might have sired another child within her. The idea made her warm and fuzzy, even though the man spoke of the hardships of hybrids-So what am I to do? Either abstain from sex or abstain from having children? That I ought to avoid motherhood, the one true heart throbbing desire of a woman? What of my two children that have already been born? Ought they be destroyed or taken from me? For I swear I shall kill any who try to make as much happen...

Cabron regarded Kierstian intently as she defended her situation as a mother and mate, a soft breath blown through pursed lips when she made it known anyone who intended to harm their children would have to get past her.  Before Louis could attempt to respond to her, Cabron twisted at the waist so that he was facing her.  "No one is going to harm our babes, Kierstian.  They have you, I, Mick, Susan, even Dan and Jerry to protect them.  Dan is quite the fighter it happens, did you know that?  Said it came of growing up defending himself from gay bashers," he chuckled.  "Try to understand that Mick and Louis are not condemning us, or threatening us, but simply making us aware of the dangers.  It is good, for we will not be blindsided by ignorance.  Like anyone else we can use birth control, and if we still get pregnant? We shall embrace every child we have.  We shall raise them well, and they shall know they are loved and have a safe place in the world." A beaming smile then parted his lips and lit up his eyes.  "We may need to find a bigger place though!" he sang out, his dark eyes dancing on her like star lit black spheres of obsidian.  "Do not let down your guard Kierstian, but do have a care not to mistake friends for foes.  Yes, there are some who would condemn us, but they are not the majority from what Mick told me, and Mick and Louis are certainly not included with those few who would seek to excommunicate us, or harm our pups.  Have faith, love.  Everything will work out, and we shall protect all of our children, and each other vigilantly."  Carius pressed a kiss to her brow and swathed her in his arms to hold her close.  Damn if he would let himself believe the worst for a moment.  Since coming to London over nine months ago, everything had been fine, his rocky start finding a steady job that paid well aside.   Thanks to Louis, that problem was solved.  "This is simply a challenge for us, Kierstian, nothing more and nothing less, and we shall not only resolve it, and make the best of it, but our children shall know we love them all the more for working it through to their benefit.  With love, patience, and understanding, they shall be well rounded and happy.  We shall also make sure that any hardships they do suffer only make them stronger."  His confidence and faith was unbreakable.  When his gaze locked on Louis again, his eyes seemed to dare the vampire who could kick his ass, up down and sideways, to disagree with him.
